Our mission is to deliver the highest quality early education and care to Austin’s most economically disadvantaged children – along with services so each child and parent have tools for success in school and life. Mainspring works at the grassroots level, directly with young, underserved families to help them become successful and independent. We provide excellent, affordable education, care and nutrition for children to help them reach their potential, while offering hands-on guidance and counseling for parents and guardians to ensure that both generations move forward together. It’s this multi-generation model that gives families the chance to break the cycle of poverty. Mainspring is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is among the 8% of centers in the US accredited by NAEYC, the nation’s most rigorous early childhood accrediting body. Since 1941, our mission and success has been driven by community support. Most of our families are low-income and are using government-subsidized childcare vouchers in their transition from welfare to work. These subsidies only pay about 60% of real costs. Private contributions help close the gap between costs and public reimbursements.
