Natural Disaster Response Training
Even though it may seem a ways away, we already starting the preparation for hurricane season. Looking for a hands-on way to make a difference? Volunteer with our 2-1-1 “call for help” line during a natural disaster – like hurricanes, floods, and fires – when requests for support are highest throughout Texas. United Way for Greater Austin is offering a free 2-hour training for people interested in volunteering for one or more 4-hours shifts between August and October, peak hurricane season for Texas. Sign up here to express interest, and we'll reach out as we get closer to summer. Volunteers must have basic computer and technology skills and a desire to help others.
