Natural Disaster Response Training 2020

Looking for a hands-on way to make a difference? Volunteer with our 2-1-1 “call for help” line during a natural disaster – like hurricanes, floods, and fires – when requests for support are highest throughout Texas.
United Way for Greater Austin is offering a free, virtual 1-hour training for people interested in volunteering to answer calls for one or more 4-hours shifts between August and October, peak hurricane season for Texas. Volunteers must have basic computer and technology skills and a desire to help others.
We're offering two virtual sessions on July 10th and 24th. Register for your preferred time and date below, then we'll send you a ZOOM link before your session. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Farmer's Insurance.

We'll cover:

-An overview of 2-1-1 and the history of the critical role we play in responding to disasters in Central Texas
-Examples of calls we received during hurricane Harvey
-A training on how to take and respond to a call during a disaster using our referral software/system
-Time for Q&A

*Update 7/6 United Way for Greater Austin is actively monitoring COVID19 developments, and has updated this volunteer event. Trainings and all future disaster related volunteering will now be virtual.
