Help Assemble Resource Bags for Families!

Take Home Bag Assembly Day!

Thank you for volunteering your time to help serve our families in the Early Learning Readiness program (ELR) here at the YMCA of Austin. ELR is a bilingual preschool program for low income families with children ages 2-4 years old. Thanks to grant funding, the program is free for those families who qualify for program. ELR works to empower caregivers with tools they need to help prepare their children for school. Both the children and their caregivers come to program twice a week for 15 weeks and receive weekly take home bags with books, puzzles, art supplies, parenting tips and other resources. Check out our program video here

The project you/your team will be helping us with is putting together these weekly take home bags for the upcoming school year. Last semester, we gave away over 500 bags to families filled with books, activities, art supplies and puzzles to help enrich their learning at home. This semester, we are needing to put together 750 bags for our families. We really want to help these families see how important their everyday interactions and experiences are to their child’s development. Your help putting together this resource will create a lasting impact in the lives of our children and their families. Thank you for playing a part in the education journey of so many families!

*Assembly Day schedule is subject to change based on the number of volunteers we receive. Due to the magnitude of the project, we need a minimum of 10 volunteers to be able to host our "assembly day". If you are interested in a different time block for you and your group, please reach out to Missy.Garcia@austinymca.org.
