Remove Invasive Plants from our Nature Preserve
Join us to help restore the beautiful woodlands of the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve! A major threat to our native local ecosystem is invasive plants, which take over and crowd out diverse native plants that wildlife relies on. We'll be focusing on pulling vinca (more info: https://texasinvasives.org/plant_database/detail.php?symbol=VIMA) a groundcover, also known as periwinkle, that spread from a home garden to cover about six acres of the preserve. It’s pretty easy to remove using hand tools, and is (thankfully!) in the shade under trees, so it shouldn't be too hot.
