Community Tree Block Walk
The Austin Community Tree (ACT) program is a neighborhood tree planting program that focuses on reducing the Urban Heat Island effect by planting more trees on private property. The addition of trees can cool daytime temperatures in neighborhoods. The ACT program is offered free to eligible neighborhoods and is a partnership among neighborhoods and the City of Austin.
Volunteers will:
- Block-walk a section of the North Shoal Creek neighborhood to offer trees to eligible properties;
- Distribute door hangers and tree flags to potential tree-planting sites;
- Record data;
Volunteers should dress for weather and bring work gloves, hat, sunscreen, and water.
On-site training will be provided.
Refreshments provided.
